Weeks 21 and 22
Immediately after last week's update, Nate and I went out to look at a crib and dresser we found on Craigslist and ended up buying them later that day. After seemingly endless struggle of "how to get it home in our Ford Focus and Honda Civic," we borrowed a friends SUV and brought our purchases home. I'm really excited about furniture! It's lighter than what I originally wanted, but for $250 for the pair, I really can't complain. Plus we get to add my old dresser to the room since the stain is almost the same as the crib. Here's what the nursery is shaping up to look like...
I'm searching Lowes and Home Depot's Oops Paint racks to find a light blue, glossy-finished paint. I'll paint the three walls light blue and leave the wall with the crib brown. It'll really lighten up the whole room ... it's just very dark with that brown.
After getting inspiration from one of my favorite HGTV shows, Sarah's House, I'm also hunting for various fonts of wooden letters to do an alphabet around the top of the room. I'll paint the letters in the color scheme of the nursery. Here's the website with the photos. You'll have to scroll through to find the after pictures. They're 2-4 in the gallery.

Didn't get around to updating during the week, so here's the belly picture catch up from last week.
Nate put his artistic hand to work and is really proud of this picture, so I thought I'd include it for your viewing as well. It'll look better as the belly keeps growing. :)
Now, onto today... Hot off my SD Card here's my outfit from today (yes, I'm wearing a sleeveless top it was still in the 90s today) and baby boy at 22 1/2 weeks!!
I've now given into the fact that people will be rubbing my belly. Random women in the grocery store tell me how much I "glow." And I'm constantly asked "how many more months?," "is it a boy or girl?" "can you feel him kick?" and "are you really pregnant?" by students at my school.
I finally told my own students last week. It seemed that all the other kids around them knew their teacher was pregnant, so I figured it's time to let them in on the secret. So, since I needed a writing sample anyways, I drew a picture of myself holding a blanket on the board and asked them to write a story about "What will Miller do with the blanket?" Several of them told me that I was watching a movie and got cold so I obviously needed to use the blanket to keep warm. One told me that I needed it in the ambulance when I went to the hospital. Another said that I knocked it off while I was jumping on the couch and had to fold it nicely before my husband got home. After allowing them each to read their stories to the class, I read my story to them and said I was going to use the blanket to stop my baby boy from crying. ... silence...head nods... I said, "Is that true? Does Miller have a baby?" They all responded... "YES!" I said, "really? Where's the baby?" They said, "at home." I said, "nope, I don't have a baby at home." Their next guess was "in the car?" Seeing that this was going no where fast, I asked them again "Where's my baby?" and pointed to my stomach. Finally one girl said, "OH! In your belly!" Haha!! They were very excited, jumping up and down, hugging me.... Seriously wished I would have gotten it on video (although for confidentiality reasons, I'm sure parents are happy I didn't) because it was one of the funniest moments of the year thus far!

Snips, Snails and Puppydog Tails...
THAT'S what Baby Bean is made of!!
Hooray for a healthy, active, cooperative baby boy!!! Weighing in at over a pound, the baby looked GREAT!!! The little guy had our technician laughing at his activity - bouncing and kicking from one side of mommy to the other while trying get all the pictures/measurements needed! No doubt, it's Nate's child! ... but I guess the 3 Musketeers I had before going in might have had something to do with it too... :)

We're SO excited!! Everything looks great. We couldn't have asked for a better appointment! So...now onto decorating the nursery! I'm thinking about doing jungle colors - but not a cutsy jungle theme with cartoon animals - browns, taupes, grays, greens, blues, and oranges. I cut this pic out of a magazine. These are the colors...pay no attention to the design. :)
I bought this chair from IKEA for the nursery chair...so I'm using it as a jumping off point.
Here's a picture of the mobile I'm making. Obviously not these colors...
Ok...last but not least...belly pics from week 20!!
Love you all!! We're off to hunt for a crib!! Wish us luck!!

Happy Labor Day!
I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We sure did! Nate and I took a trip Sunday night to Austin and stayed the night up there (it's about a 4 hour trip from our house). Then on Monday, we made the 20 minute trip from Austin to San Marcos where they have a huge outlet mall. We spent the day walking, shopping, buying things for baby. It was so nice and relaxing!
Last week I went in for the follow-up appointment with the cardiologist. He said that all my tests came back normal! Hooray! Now when I feel my heart doing crazy things, I just sit down and relax. I figure it's the baby's way of telling me to slow down.
Here's the bean at 19 weeks...and a series of action shots of the dogs!
Next appointment is Sept 15th. We'll find out if it's a boy or girl!! I'm thinking girl...what do you predict? Post a comment to cast your vote!! :)
