After much anticipation...WELCOME BABY ABRAM!!! It figures that as soon as we set up a date to be induced, Abram decided to come naturally! I started having contractions after we came home from church on Sunday, January 30th. As I tracked them, I saw they got to be more and more regular as the night went on. At around 11:00pm Nate and I took a walk around the block (several times) and by 1:00am, decided that it was time to put in a call to the doctor and get to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, I was dilated to 2 cm and almost completely effaced. They gave me the epidural and I slept until they checked me again at 5am...still 2 cm. I fell asleep again. When they came in at 9am I was dilated to 9 cm! Wow, that was fast! I started pushing around 9:30am and Abram was born at 1:01pm. He came out with a bang and, much to the surprise of everyone in the room, weighed in at 9lbs 4.5oz. WHO KNEW!? He was so alert! He let out one big scream to let us know he was OK and then was content to be in dad's arms taking in the surroundings! They let him stay with us in the delivery room for over an hour after he was born before they took him to the nursery to do his bath, evaluations and whatnot. We stayed in the hospital for 2 days and we were released to go home on Wednesday, February 2nd.
It's been great being home! My parents were able to be here to hold the fort down while we were still in the hospital (not to mention provide awesome help cooking/freezing meals, cleaning, walking the dogs, etc.) Nate's parents and sister were here to provide wonderful support in holding the baby while I slept, cooking meals, changing diapers, and the like after we came home from the hospital. I cannot thank our families enough for all their help in the weeks prior and after Abram's birth. :) What a blessing!
